
Maxwell Forton
Maxwell Forton is an Anthropology PhD candidate at Binghamton University and a professional archaeologist working in the American Southwest. His archaeological research focuses on how rock imagery (rock art) structures the experience of people moving through and encountering sacred geographies. He has worked as a professional archaeologist for the National Park Service, US Forest Service, the non-profit Archaeology Southwest, and multiple cultural resource management firms. Maxwell was raised in the Christian Church (Disciples of Church) and is a member of an Episcopal Church community devoted to the principles of Earth Justice, Migrant Justice, and Social Justice. He, his wife, daughter, rescue dog, and rescue tortoise all live in Tucson, Arizona.
